What is Decompression Therapy?
What is Decompression Therapy
Decompression Therapy is a nonsurgical procedure that effectively treats disabling low back, neck, radiating leg & arm pain, and headaches. Decompression Therapy effectively relieves pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, posterior facet syndromes, by reducing the pressure on spinal discs and facet joints through unloading created by distraction and positioning. Decompression Therapy effectively enhances the healing process and renders quick, effective and amazing pain relief that enables most patients to return to a more active lifestyle.
Research to develop decompression tables and procedure was conducted by prominent physicians, engineers and technicians at major teaching hospitals.
The Treatment
A typical daily treatment session consists of approximately 15-19 minutes of decompression and electro therapy on the Chiropractic Decompression Table. The Decompression process is comfortable and safe, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during treatment.
Many patients will find relief of their symptoms between 8 and 10 sessions, while the average recommended course of treatment is 12-25 sessions. Ideally, the spinal decompression treatment sessions are performed daily with a rest on the weekend.
At the conclusion of the spinal decompression treatment series, patients are given mobilization and strengthening exercises to avoid repeat injury.
After only a few weeks of spinal decompression treatment, research has shown outstanding results in the resolution of symptoms caused by degenerative, bulging, herniated or ruptured discs, as well as sciatica, posterior facet syndrome, spinal stenosis, and many failed back surgery cases. Many patients are able to return to normal levels of activity at work or recreation in just a few weeks time.
This spinal decompression treatment process takes time and repetition. It is gradual and requires active participation by the patient following the strict protocol. |
